Your senior session should feel like you — just a little more polished and intentional. Your outfits are a huge part of creating a gallery that feels personal, timeless, and full of variety. But the most important rule? Wear something you feel confident in.
Here are a few do's and don'ts to help you choose outfits you'll love looking back on.
Do
- Bring 3-4 outfits. This will give your final gallery a lot of variety. Anymore than four outfits and you'll spend most of your session changing. I recommend including a casual outfit that most feels like you, something a little more formal, a statement outfit (something that you love), and/or a uniform, letterman's jacket, or dance costume.
- Add layers if possible. Layers add dimension and look great in photos; think jackets, sweaters, or button up shirts over t-shirts.
- Include different color outfits to give your final gallery more variety.
- Wear something that is comfortable. If you are not comfortable in your clothing it will be obvious in your photos.
- Make sure your clothes are wrinkle free.
- If you are planning on wearing shoes that are not very comfortable, bring a pair of sandals for walking between locations.
Don't
(These aren't hard and fast rules, more of something to consider)
- Wear busy patterns or small prints. They don't photograph well.
- Avoid logos on clothes unless they are part of your story.
- Wear clothes that are overly tight or need constant adjustments.
